If you’re interested in roller derby, don’t be shy! No experience is necessary; we’re a diverse group of people with different abilities and backgrounds. One of our favorite things is sharing the world of roller derby to new skaters, referees, NSOs, and volunteers.
Skate With Us
For skaters and skating officials (refs), we are currently running an open and rolling recruitment schedule. TSD offers a six week training program known as Roller Derby 101 designed to introduce the basic skills needed to start playing or officiating roller derby, provide instruction on roller derby rules and strategy, and help you get to know the Twin State Derby community.
Upcoming Roller Derby 101 dates:
March 17th 3-6 pm
May 5th 3-6 pm
Check out our Facebook page to RSVP for Roller Derby 101 and receive updates about the event. The first session of Roller Derby 101 is FREE and no roller derby experience or gear are needed! Wear athletic clothing and bring a mouth guard, water bottle, and positive attitude. All skaters must be 18+ to participate in Roller Derby 101. All Roller Derby 101 sessions and rookie practices are located at Twin State Derby's Claremont practice space. There is a $50 charge per rookie for participating in Roller Derby 101 to cover practice space costs and gear maintenance.
For more information about joining Twin State Derby, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and check out our Facebook page for updates.
Volunteer With Us
If you’d like to get involved, but don’t want to get bruised, don’t worry! Anyone over 18+ can join our important team of officials and NSOs (non-skating officials), and we often need volunteers to lend a hand at bouts. We would LOVE to have you around, and it's a great way to get to know the game derby community! If you have any questions, or would like to find out more, don’t hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.
Twin State Derby welcomes skaters from other leagues who have passed the WFTDA Minimum Skills Requirements to join us for practice on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Excluding planned interleague engagements, we ask that visiting skaters contribute $10 per drop-in practice to help offset our cost for the practice space. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know that you are interested in joining us, and to confirm practice date/time/location.
